G Chakravarty, Chairman of the Professionals’ Congress and Data Analytics wing, made the remarks days after Chief Minister M K Stalin announced that ₹5,000 would be deposited into the accounts of eligible women under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme. The payment was presented by the state government as part of its continuing commitment to women-headed households, a flagship social welfare plank since the DMK assumed office in 2021.
