State eases jallikattu rules for organisers

Tamil Nadu has announced three relaxations to the regulatory framework governing jallikattu, removing online registration for participants, easing insurance requirements for tamers, and ending the practice of collecting stamp-paper undertakings from organisers, according to an official release issued on Friday.

The changes follow Chief Minister M. K. Stalin's visit to Alanganallur in Madurai district, widely regarded as one of the sport’s most pr-ominent venues, where he watched jallikattu events and interacted with organisers and participants.

The government said the revisions were intended to simplify procedures while retaining safeguards linked to public safety and compensation.
