Yamaha has finally launched the eternally awaited XSR155 in India. Along with it, the company has also launched the FZ-RAVE, an addition to the FZ lineup, and has also unveiled its first electric scooters for India—the Aerox-E and EC-06.

YAMAHA XSR155 & FZ-RAVE LAUNCHED | AEROX-E & EC-06 UNVEILED

I got to see all four two-wheelers in Mumbai at the gala launch event, and though I will bring the exhaustive reviews of all, as and when I get to ride them, even in this story I shall give you a good idea on what you can expect from these four vehicles. First up, we shall discuss the star of the show, the XSR155.

The XSR155 is a modern retro motorcycle and Yamaha is calling it a Modern Retro Sport, which is agreeable as it carries YZF-R15's beautiful 155 cc liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine, with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology, that delivers 13.5 kW (18.4 PS) of peak power and 14.2 Nm of peak torque. I specifically asked the R&D gentlemen if the power and torque curves and the gearing has changed, and they replied that all of that is exactly the same as the R15.

The XSR also gets R15's proven Deltabox frame, aluminium swingarm, upside-down front fork, linked-type monocross rear suspension, and a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. Of course, features such as dual-channel ABS and Traction Control are standard as well. However, Yamaha didn't mention anything about the quickshifter and even the bikes on display weren't equipped with it, so I take it that the XSR doesn't come with it right now though you can't rule out the possibility of it coming in the near future.

A classic round LED headlight and taillight, teardrop fuel tank, traditional-style LCD display, ribbed seat, 17-inch wheels, and a chunky exhaust round up the list of other mentionable components that I could notice.
