Protect your skin: The ultimate sunscreen guide for summer

No matter your age, skin tone, or lifestyle, wearing sunscreen daily is non-negotiable. But with so many options—gel-based, water-based, cream-based—how do you choose the right one for your skin type? Let's decode the art of picking the perfect sunscreen this summer, while also shedding light on harmful chemicals to avoid and whether natural sunscreens really match up.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR SKIN TYPE FIRST

Choosing sunscreen isn't a one-size-fits-all approach. Your skin type should guide your decision:

Oily Skin: Opt for gel-based or water-based sunscreens. These are lightweight, non-greasy, and won't clog pores. They also help prevent that sticky, sweaty feeling we dread in summer.

Dry Skin: Cream-based sunscreens are your best bet. They offer hydration along with sun protection, keeping the skin nourished and supple.

Sensitive Skin: Look for mineral or physical sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. They are less likely to cause irritation compared to chemical-based formulations.

Combination Skin: A water-based sunscreen works well, striking a balance between hydration and oil control.

Acne-Prone Skin: Choose oil-free, non-comedogenic, and fragrance-free sunscreens, preferably gel-based formulas that allow your skin to breathe without triggering breakouts.

WHAT TYPE OF SUNSCREENS ARE TRENDING IN 2025?
