NDA secures big win, cross-voting changed the game

The win of CP Radhakrishnan in the Vice President election has added a new chapter to Indian politics.
In this election on September 9, 2025, NDA's candidate and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan defeated India Block's candidate, former Supreme Court judge B Sudarshan Reddy. Radhakrishnan got a total of 452 votes, while Reddy had to settle for 300 votes. This win is special because NDA originally had support from 427 MPs, but cross-voting gave them extra votes. According to news, at least 14-15 opposition MPs voted for NDA, which raises a big question on the opposition's unity.
