Controversial Adani Dharavi Redevelopment Project has raised fears of displacement and disruption among Dharavi's population

With the campaign for Maharashtra elections peaking full volume, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has made the fight in Dharavi a prestige battle, rallying all its forces to secure a win for Congress candidate Jyoti Gaikwad. Dharavi, in a way, is leading the political narrative of MVA against the ruling Mahayuti government, with almost all top leaders of alliance making Dharavi redevelopment a core point of attack against the BJP-led alliance.

Right from the beginning of the campaign, Dharavi has been at the forefront of shaping the attack, with leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Aditya Thackeray, Uddhav Thackeray among others raising the redevelopment issue time and again to accuse the government of favouring its "crony capitalist friends".
