MEA slams Munir's 'jugular vein' claim, warns against provocation

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly condemned comments reportedly made by Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during his ongoing visit to the United States, calling them "nuclear sabre-rattling" and "irresponsible."

Our attention has been drawn to remarks reportedly made by the Pakistani Chief of Army Staff while on a visit to the United States. Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan's stock-in-trade," the MEA spokesperson said, adding that such statements reinforce global concerns about "the integrity of nuclear command and control in a state where the military is hand-in-glove with terrorist groups."

Expressing regret that these remarks were delivered "from the soil of a friendly third country," the spokesperson affirmed that India "will not give in to nuclear blackmail" and will take "all necessary steps" to safeguard its national security.
