In a significant political development ahead of Haryana's assembly elections, estranged Congress leader Kiran Choudhary has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from the state's sole seat.
Choudhary's election became inevitable after the Congress and other opposition parties, lacking the necessary numbers, opted not to field a candidate against her.
Congress leader and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi was on Tuesday elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana in a bypoll.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan received the certificate of election on behalf of Singhvi from the returning officer here.
Kiran Choudhary The Rajya Sabha seat fell vacant following the resignation of Congress MP Deepender Hooda, who stepped down to successfully contest the Lok Sabha polls from the Rohtak constituency.
