The technology of Tele diagnostics has removed the barrier of distance also for providing quality patient healthcare. This facilitates the specialists in the multispecialty advanced diagnostic centres to analyze medical images and data from patients residing in remote locations helping in diagnosis of patients in rural areas.
Like all other spheres of medical expertise, diagnostic techniques are also undergoing a paradigm in the post-COVID scenario. While in ancient times practices like Nadi Vigyan (pulse diagnosis), were used to assess health and well-being of a patient, it was replaced by technological supports from various biochemical, microbiological, histopathological and later Point-of-care (POC) testing devices that are compact, portable units and can be operated by the patients or their caregivers to perform a range of diagnostic tests quickly without the need of hospital visit.
There was a simultaneous advent of more advanced techniques like radiological imaging, eye-tracking, wearable technology, mobile apps/tablets, ECG, EEG and biofeedback techniques etc. These revolutionized the diagnostic science as they were able to reduce diagnostic errors leading to early onset of treatment leading to better prognosis.
