PM Modi congratulates Kamla Persad-Bissessar for victory
The party of former Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has regained power in Trinidad and Tobago after a sweeping victory at the polls.
Preliminary results from Monday's snap election show that the United National Congress, which is allied with the Coalition of Interests, won 26 of 41 seats in the House of Representatives.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Kamla Persad-Bissessar for securing a win in the elections and said that he looked forward to working with her to strengthen the partnership for shared prosperity and the well-being of the people of the two nations.
