Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren joins BJP

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (KMM) rebel Champai Soren joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) I during an event in Ranchi on Friday.

Soren was welcomed into the BJP by Union Minister and Jharkhand in-charge, Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand BJP co-incharge, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Jharkhand BJP President Babulal Marandi and other state BJP leaders were also in attendance.
These development comes ahead of elections to the 81-member Legislative Assembly. The JMM government tenure ends this year. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the election dates.
