Flood fury in Northeast: Bridges collapse, roads hit, villages ruined

Heavy rain and flash floods continued to batter Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam on Monday, washing away bridges, triggering landslides and disrupting road and rail connectivity.

In Arunachal Pradesh, a 300-metre iron bridge over the Kemi/Kemey river, connecting Kemi and Oyan, was swept away by strong floodwaters. The collapse cut off access between the Kemi-Purana Jelom area and Jonai Sadar, with visuals showing the river tearing through the crossing.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to review the situation and assured all possible help from the Centre.
