Accuses the Congress of spreading "vote bank ka virus" over its opposition to Waqf Act
Launching a scathing attack on the Congress party, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday accused the grand old party of insulting Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and misusing his legacy for vote bank politics.
Speaking at two big public rallies in Hisar and Yamunanagar, PM Modi said, "Congress made Dr. Ambedkar lose elections twice. During the Emergency, they crushed the Constitution. Now, they carry it around to fool people and divide society."
Modi said his government has taken many steps to honour Dr. Ambedkar's contribution and pass on his values to future generations. "But Congress has insulted places related to Baba Saheb and tried to wipe them from history," he added.
On Ambedkar Jayanti, PM Modi called poor people, Dalits, tribals and women the "soul of real social justice", saying his government is fully committed to their progress.
He also slammed Congress for changing the Waqf law in 2013 to please certain communities.
