The Daily Guardian
|March 28, 2025
Ell P (Lakshmi Priya)'s debut novel, Shameless in Stilettos, is a hard-hitting, gripping crime thriller that challenges genre expectations by blending elements of suspense, psychological depth, and daring eroticism.
Published in November 2024 by Tara Press, the book's premise combines a dark crime investigation with intricate character development and explores taboo themes of grief, trauma, and unconventional sexual desires.
For readers who enjoy works like Big Little Lies or Fifty Shades of Grey, this book delivers a potent mix of tension, complex relationships, and unexpected twists that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
PLOT OVERVIEW
The novel begins with a shocking murder mystery that unfolds in a middle-class Indian neighborhood. Anant 'f***ing' Reddy, the son of a powerful business tycoon, is initially presumed to have committed suicide. However, the investigation takes a dark turn when the coroner discovers a sharp object embedded in his eye, leading to the conclusion that it was a deliberate act of murder. Inspector Meenakshi Rao is assigned to investigate, but this is no ordinary case. Her investigation leads her to three primary suspects, all women, each harboring their own secrets and complex desires.
The Dominatrix: A desperate mother who is not only grappling with her own internal struggles but also with a growing yearning for control.
The Woman with Baby Fever: A woman who desires motherhood, but her marriage is strained, with her husband struggling to maintain sexual intimacy without resorting to masturbation.
