Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded two women officers of the Indian Navy who successfully circumnavigated the globe in the 'Navika Sagar Parikrama II' expedition, while also calling upon citizens to support indigenous products and Khadi during the upcoming festive season.
Addressing the 126th episode of his monthly radio broadcast Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister praised Lieutenant Commanders Dilna K and Roopa A for completing an eight-month voyage aboard the Indian Naval Sailing Vessel Tarini. The duo, popularly known as #DilRoo, sailed nearly 50,000 km across four continents, three oceans and three Great Capes, braving extreme weather with only sails and wind power. “These two brave officers have demonstrated courage and determination during the Navika Sagar Parikrama,” Modi said, noting that the feat symbolised India’s maritime strength and the spirit of Nari Shakti.
