Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the six-laning of the Ahmedabad-Maliya Road section between Shantipura Crossroads and Khoraj GIDC in Sanand. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was present at the ceremony.
The project, to be executed by the Gujarat State Road Development Corporation (GSRDC) at an estimated cost of 805 crore, will widen a 28.8-kilometre stretch into a six-lane highway to ease traffic congestion caused by rapid industrial growth in Sanand and adjoining areas. The route currently witnesses an average daily movement of over 43,000 vehicles.
