THE regional chair of insolvency and restructuring trade body R3 has responded to the latest data on insolvencies in England and Wales.

Corporate insolvencies in April stood at 2,053, an increase on March's total of 1,996 but down by 5.1% on the same month in 2024.

However, that figure was 13.2% higher than the April 2023 total of 1,813.

Personal insolvencies rose by 7.9% in April to 10,012, also higher than March's figure (9,282), and up by 4.4% year on year and by 8.2% compared to April 2023.

Bethan Evans, R3’s chair in the South West, said: “April’s corporate insolvency figures were the highest we've seen since July 2024.
