Opening Bat to Score at Salisbury

Opening Bat is the pick in the Highclere Castle Gin Handicap at Salisbury today.
He made little impact in three juvenile runs for Harry Charlton, but a winter gelding operation seemed to have had the desired effect when he returned this term.
Opening Bat was too keen first time out, but made the leap to the winner's enclosure the next time when winning at Kempton in May. Raised 1.5kg and returned to the turf on his most recent engagement, Opening Bat raced prominently but ultimately fell half a length short in third, which was still a good run.
