Court action over racism

Governing body wants findings of report by attorneys released to the school.

The school governing body (SGC) of Pretoria High School for Girls has launched court proceedings against the Gauteng department of education and MEC Matome Chiloane, arguing that its investigation into racism at the school had exceeded their mandate. The SGB is demanding that the findings of the report by Madladlamba Attorneys be fully released to the school. The findings were announced by Chiloane on 4 November, but the school was not given a copy. The report found that there was racism at the school despite the Thabo Mbeki Foundation finding that it had not found racism a few weeks before. Chiloane said the department launched an investigation into the school after receiving reports of alleged racism in 2016, zozo and then in 2023/24.
