Thief stole from charity and spat at police officer

A SERIAL thief stole from a charity and spat on a police officer during his latest crime spree.

Jeffrey Stoker, who has 152 offences on his appalling record, including for making off with charity bags, has appeared in court numerous times for his dishonest ways.

Despite being on a community order, the 37-year-old targeted St Vincent de Paul, in Newcastle, and helped himself to £25 worth of laundry liquid, a court heard.

He also stole from the same Sainsbury's store twice in on day, taking £67 worth of laundry products.

He was finally snared when he stole £20 worth of coffee from the Coop last week and was put in the dock less than 24 hours later.

He pleaded guilty to four counts of shop theft during the hearing at Newcastle Magistrates' Court.
