HE'S AMONG THE ELITE FEW WHO'VE BEEN IN EVERY RACE

A GRANDAD from Gateshead is as determined as ever that he will take on the 44th Great North Run, despite having major health issues.
Ron Snaith, 70, from Ryton, looks set to keep his 100% Great North Run record intact when he lines up with 60,000 others on Sunday, September 7.
Last year, Ron completed the event with the aid of a wheelchair after he ruptured his small intestine, and he has been battling mesothelioma since his diagnosis in December 2018.
Then aged 64, the former shipyard worker was told he had three to nine months left to live due to the asbestos-related cancer that affects the lining of the lungs.
