Plans to demolish former leisure centre submitted

PLANS have been submitted to demolish a former Northumberland leisure centre after several attempts to sell the site never came to fruition.

Northumberland County Council will demolish the now redundant building that housed Morpeth’s Riverside Leisure Centre.
It comes after a £21m state-of-the-art replacement was built on nearby Gas House Lane.
The Riverside building was marketed ‘extensively’ for sale twice, but a suitable buyer never come forward.
The county council say the move to demolish the building is an “important step" for any future use of the Newmarket site.
