UNITED BOSS DISMISSES LATEST LINK WITH MAN UTD JOB

- By LEE RYDER Chief Newcastle writer leeryder@reachplc.com @lee_ryder

EDDIE Howe has nailed his colours firmly to the Newcastle United mast amid suggestions that Manchester United could see him as a candidate for the top job at Old Trafford if underfire Ruben Amorim leaves soon.

Amorim has suffered a Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town this season and has struggled to hit the ground running after a poor campaign last term.

Howe - linked with England last summer - has made it clear he has a long-term contract at St James’ Park and is firmly committed to the task in hand on Tyneside.

When the Man United discussion cropped up, which was picked up by the wider media on TalkSPORT and other outlets yesterday, Howe gave a glowing answer to Newcastle fans.

Peter Crouch had said: “Someone mentioned Eddie Howe to me, right, to go to (Manchester) United,” he said. “But why would he leave Newcastle?”
