Howe fought to keep Miley on Tyneside

Howe has hinted that he fought to keep Lewis Miley last summer after interest in the 2025 transfer window. The teenager has proved to be a revelation this season after starring at right-back and in midfield, with the Stanley lad even donning the captain's armband in the dying stages against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

United were forced to sell Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest for PSR reasons in 2024, but Howe was not keen to repeat that with Miley last summer.
