A SAVAGE thug bit off part of man’s ear in a sickening attack in a Newcastle city centre bus shelter.

- By ROB KENNEDY

A brawl ended in the horrific attack when Darren Hutchinson sank his teeth into the victim's ear after a row in a bar spilled outside.

The victim, who was apologising to Hutchinson for hitting him first, said it felt like his ear was being slowly cut off during the excruciatingly painful attack.

The top of his ear was left lying on the ground and he has been left permanently disfigured.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that the victim had been out in Newcastle with a friend on August 28 2023. While in Rusty’s bar, he noticed his friend had become embroiled in a row with a man - Hutchinson - while queuing to buy a drink.

He went to intervene and Hutchinson said “get outside I’m going to kill you”. The victim and Hutchinson ended up “in each other's faces’, others intervened and the victim and his friend decided to leave and headed towards a takeaway shop.
