A fresh crisis is brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the controversial endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term — without Vice President Kashim Shettima — by top party leaders in the North-East.

Zulum Leads Revolt as APC Endorses Tinubu Without Shettima for 2027

At a North-East stakeholders meeting held on Sunday in Gombe State, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje and the party's National Vice Chairman (North-East), Mustapha Salihu, publicly declared support for Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. However, the declaration made no mention of Shettima, who hails from Borno State and is the most prominent political figure from the region after Tinubu.

The omission triggered an uproar, with Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum staging a symbolic protest, joined by several regional stakeholders who expressed anger over what they described as a "deliberate slight" against the Vice President.
