In a bold move to curb rising insecurity, Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has launched a new security outfit known as the Quick Response Squad (QRS) to respond swiftly to emergencies and protect vulnerable communities across the state.

The initiative was formally unveiled on Monday, July 8, 2025, with the governor represented at the event by his deputy, Dr. Sam Ode. The QRS is a composite force that draws its strength from the collaboration of multiple local security actors, including the Civilian Protection Guard (CPG), Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), local hunters, and the Joint Task Force (JTF).
