Supreme Court Stayed Criminal Trial In Case Where Allahabad High Court Failed To Pronounce Decision After 14 Months Since Reserving Orders

The court granted the liberty to the petitioner to seek stay in the trial proceedings until the matter is decided (by the High Court) on merits.

The Supreme Court in the case Ramdular Singh Versus State Of U.P. And Anr observed and has stayed the criminal trial against an accused, wherein he was aggrieved with the decision of High Court that has reserved the judgment on his petition for quashing but did not deliver the same despite lapse of 14 months since the orders were reserved.

The bench comprising of Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Sandeep Mehta was hearing the present matter.
