Punjab and Haryana High Court Expressed Concern, seeks UT's Response: Wild Cannabis Plants Openly growing In Chandigarh?

The Punjab and Haryana High Court in the case Aman Singh v. State of Punjab observed and has noted the allegations that cannabis plants have grown wildly in public places in Chandigarh.

The court in the case stated that it is a matter of 'grave concern' and needs to be addressed.

The bench headed by Justice Sandeep Moudgil was hearing the anticipatory bail plea in a NDPS case.

Therefore, the bench was informed by the counsel appearing for the Petitioner that large number of cannabis plants are growing in the open area near the Secretariat round-about and particularly in a public park and 'many visitors or passersby or may be even the residents of the city are indulged in misusing the wild growth to their undue advantage and illegal use.
