Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Ramban on Tuesday to assess the extensive damage caused by the floods and landslides that ravaged the region following heavy rainfall on April 20.
The severe weather conditions, including landslides and flash floods, led to widespread destruction in Ramban, a district along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least three people, including two children, in Bagahana village, where two houses collapsed due to the landslide.
In his visit, Chief Minister Abdullah inspected the affected areas and spoke to both the residents and officials involved in the rescue operations.
He assured the people that restoration work was underway, with the primary goal of reopening the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway within 24 hours to restore connectivity.
Abdullah emphasized that the first priority had been saving lives and providing immediate relief to the affected population, with a particular focus on evacuating people to safe areas.
"This is the third day since the incident, and in these three days, senior ministers have come here every day.
