Nation's Resolve to Build Viksit Bharat

On August 15, the nation enthusiastically celebrated the festival of independence. We completed 78 years of our independence. In his first speech on August 15, 1947, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru said that Bharat was rediscovering itself. He stated that our goal should be to wipe every tear from every eye. "The future is calling us—we must decide where we need to go and what we must do to bring freedom and opportunity to the common people, farmers, and workers; to eliminate poverty; and to build a prosperous, democratic, and progressive nation. No country can become great if the thoughts or actions of its people are narrow-minded." This speech of Pandit Nehru has been recorded in the annals of history as "Tryst With Destiny."

In the 78-year journey of independence, we have achieved a lot that every Bhartiya can be proud of. However, there is still much that should have been achieved but remains unaccomplished. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the entire nation an ambitious goal to be achieved by the time Bharat completes 100 years of independence. "Viksit Bharat" — Developed Bharat. During this "Amrit Kaal", every Bhartiya should have only one aim—to build a Developed Bharat.

The Sanskrit poet of wisdom said:

"Udyamena hi siddhyanti karyani na manorathaib; Na hi suptasya simhasya pravisanti mukhe magab."

The above shloka implies that "Tasks are accomplished through effort, not by mere desires. Even a sleeping lion does not have deer walk into its mouth." This also interprets that goals cannot be achieved merely through wishes and imagination. One must endure hardship, engage in continuous practice, and work diligently. When millions of Bhartiyas took a firm resolve to attain independence and endured severe hardships for it, only then—after a long struggle—did we finally achieve independence.
