In March 2024, India's banking sector saw a significant rise in gross bank credit, fueled mainly by increased lending to businesses, although there was a slight deceleration in personal loans compared to the previous year. CareEdge Ratings reported a 20.2 percent year-on-year surge in gross bank credit off-take in March 2024, largely credited to the merger of HDFC Bank and HDFC Ltd.
