In a significant move to bolster its tourism industry, Iran’s Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts, Ezzatollah Zarghami, announced the unilateral cancellation of visa requirements for visitors from India. This decision is part of a broader initiative by Iran, wherein visa requirements have been waived for a total of 33 countries. The Iranian Cabinet made this groundbreaking announcement on Wednesday, with the aim of not only boosting tourism arrivals but also attracting visitors from various corners of the globe.
Zarghami, addressing the media after the cabinet meeting, emphasized that the primary goal behind this decision is to foster tourism growth and counteract any negative perceptions of Iran. He believes that proactively promoting tourism can play a crucial role in neutralizing campaigns that contribute to what is often referred to as “Iranophobia.”
