India is set to receive nextgeneration nuclear fuel from Russia this summer, underscoring the deepening partnership between the two nations in the nuclear energy sector.

This announcement was made by Alexey Likhachev, head of the Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom, during a meeting with Ajit Kumar Mohanty, chairman of India's Atomic Energy Commission, in the Tomsk region of Siberia, Russia, as reported by Russia Today (RT).

Likhachev highlighted the significance of India's role as a key partner in the nuclear field. He emphasized the ongoing cooperation between the two countries, which he expects to expand significantly. The leaders visited the Pilot Demonstration Energy Complex (PDEC) in Seversk, part of the strategic "Proryv" ("the Breakthrough") project, which aims to advance nuclear technology and safety.

Likhachev showcased the fourth-generation site to Mohanty, calling it the location of the safest atomic reactor in history.

The visit facilitated comprehensive discussions on the future of Russian-Indian nuclear cooperation. Both sides expressed their commitment to expanding their collaboration in using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
