Government amends cable TV Network rules

A number of significant amendments to the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994 have been started by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting with the goal of streamlining the MultiSystem Operator (MSO) registration process and encouraging infrastructure sharing with broadband service providers to increase internet access throughout the country.

MSOs are now required to apply for registration or the renewal of registration online via the Broadcast Seva Portal of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, according to a news statement from the ministry.
