Burnout Signs You're Ignoring – and What Helps

Burnout has become a buzzword, but it's more than feeling tired.

The World Health Organization recognises burnout as an "occupational phenomenon" and describes it as a syndrome resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. Mental Health UK notes that burnout is a state of physical, mental and emotional exhaustion where people feel detached, demotivated and hopeless about change. Burnout differs from stress: stress may be shortterm and you can still engage in the activity causing it, whereas burnout leaves you so depleted that functioning feels impossible.
