Progressive groups call for land reform, denounce corruption

Over 40 progressive organizations held a protest rally at the foot of Mendiola Bridge in Manila on Tuesday, Oct. 21, to mark Peasant's Month and call for genuine land reform, social justice, and government accountability.
According to the Manila Police District (MPD), the protest began at around 10:53 a.m. and concluded peacefully by 12:45 p.m.
An estimated 1,000 individuals from various peasant, youth, workers, and rights-based groups participated in the demonstration.
The groups marched from Liwasang Bonifacio to Mendiola, carrying placards and chanting slogans that demanded increased wages, lower prices, and justice for farmers.
