Winning start to Euroformula Open campaign for Dorking racer Pearson
Surrey Mirror
|May 01, 2025
EDWARD Pearson made a fine start to his 2025 season in the Euroformula Open series with victory on the opening weekend of the campaign at the Portimao circuit in the Algarve.
-
A solid performance during free practice in Portugal saw Pearson post the fourth quickest time, and he went one better when qualifying came around to head the second row of the grid as the fastest of the three Nielsen Racing drivers.
The opening race started in challenging fashion when the Dorking racer was forced to avoid polesitter Tymek Kucharczyk when he stalled on the line. Pearson would then be run wide during the opening lap, which dropped him back down to fifth spot.
Fine moves on Diego de la Torre and Jose Garfias allowed Pearson to move back into the podium places, at which point he was some five seconds behind leader Michael Shin.
