GATTON PARK TO CELEBRATE ITS ARMY OF HELPERS WHO HAVE RESTORED GARDENS

Three decades of volunteering has seen estate bloom

s celebrating his year s: GATTON PARK

(S: GATTON PARK)

VOLUNTEERS are vital to the restoration and running of Gatton Park - and this year a series of events are planned to celebrate 30 years of volunteering.

From small beginnings back in 1996, more than 120 volunteers now bring their skill and passion to the restoration of this stunning historic parkland in the heart of Surrey.

All this year, Gatton Park is reflecting on the achievement of its volunteers with information forums, photographic displays and have-a-go events. This will culminate in a summer party to celebrate 30 years of achievement.

Designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown with Edwardian gardens, the site fell into disrepair after the Second World War. Many key features such as the Japanese and rock gardens all but disappeared.
