Mary celebrates 100 years during double birthday bash
Surrey Mirror
|June 26, 2025
BRAMLEY House resident Mary Lord celebrated her 100th birthday at the weekend with a tea party with her family and fellow residents.
-
Born and raised in the Midlands, Mary is known for her memories of the Second World War and her gratitude at not being bombed.
As a teenager, Mary absolutely loved dancing, in particular tap and jive - a passion which has continued throughout much of Mary’s life.
With the war drawing to a close, Mary toured the North of England with a dance company, performing in theatres across the region.
Later, the many cruise holidays Mary enjoyed with her late husband Howard were chosen based on which dance band was playing onboard.
Their fancy footwork whilst afloat was rewarded with a number of dance awards during their varied cruises.
