Sunderland Harrier Liam Taylor was among the prizes once again in the South Shields 10-mile race, writes Kevin Carr.

Déjà vu for Taylor in the South Shields 10-miler

On Sunday, he repeated his performance from last year when finishing as runner-up in a time of 56:33 to James Anderson, of North Shields Poly (56:19). Jarrow and Hebburn's Andrew Laidler was third in 58:44. Houghton Harrier Lee Dover crossed the line in seventh place in a time of 1:04:22.

Hundreds of runners turned out for the 38th edition of the popular Darlington 10km road race.

Sunderland Harriers performed well to run away with the team prize.

Stephen Jackson led the way finishing in sixth position with a time of 31:50, he also won the Over-40s category. Michael Barker (34:01) was 16th and Michael Rodenby (34:18) completed the team scoring by finishing in 23rd place.
