Sparks' Russell and Ron Mael speak about their new album, and working with Cate Blanchett.

WEARING a bright yellow suit, sunglasses and red head-phones, actress Cate Blanchett joined Sparks at Glastonbury Festival in 2023 for one of the most memorable performances in Worthy Farm's history.

And now the US duo, made up of brothers Russell and Ron Mael, have hinted she may join them on the stage once again as they tour the UK and Europe in June and July with their 28th studio album Mad!.

Asked whether they will reunite with the actress, singer Russell says: "Well, you never know, she surprises you where she turns up, so we don't know, but yeah."

"We were lucky we established a friendship with her as a result of the Cesar Awards in Paris, where we were nominated, and won, for best music for the movie Annette. Cate Blanchett was also there being awarded a lifetime achievement award.
