Club’s Europe return offers youngsters opportunities

OPPORTUNITIES for Sunderland academy players could be on the horizon thanks to the club’s long-awaited return to Europe.

More opportunities for the senior squad are likely to be opened up but also youngsters once the club finalise their Europa League List A and List B options.
Sunderland will learn their league-phase opponents when the Europa League draw takes place on August 28.
Jenson Jones, 19, is a versatile defender who can play at left-back, right-back and in midfield, and highly rated by head coach Regis Le Bris.
He has already played for the first team in the Carabao Cup and was involved in pre-season before Sunderland's Premier League return. His ability to cover several roles could make him a useful European squad option.
