>> BLUES FINALLY GET THE DORTMUND WINGER BORN IN READING AND INSPIRED BY SANCHO

- BY RYAN TAYLOR

JAMIE GITTENS has long strived to emulate the achievements of idol Jadon Sancho.

Now a mega-money deal for Gittens has been finalised between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, the 20-year-old winger will be tasked with replacing his compatriot and former team-mate at Stamford Bridge.

Gittens, who flourished within Reading's academy setup before later moving to Manchester City, has already verbally agreed a seven-year contract with the Blues.

Ex-England Under-19s head coach Ian Foster (below) is convinced that Enzo Maresca's Europa Conference League winners are acquiring an attacking gem, and said: "It's no surprise to see that a club the size of Chelsea in for Jamie.

"He was a quiet boy but a joy to work with, really humble, open-minded and always up for the challenge. Jamie is a player that would never get disheartened if he wasn't getting success.

"He's going to be up against some of the world's best full-backs in the Premier League next season and if he's having a tough time, he won't go missing.
