RUBEN AMORIM has no regrets about taking up the challenge of becoming manager of Manchester United.

- BY SIMON MULLOCK

The Portuguese coach believes he is now at the top of his profession, despite being unable to arrest a slide down the Premier League table that’s threatening to leave United with their worst finish in 50 years.

Amorim admitted honestly that he did start to question his decision to accept the opportunity to replace Erik ten Hag in November rather than wait until the end of the season, ahead of the trip to Bournemouth.

But he now reckons all the pain will be worth the gain once he has put his mark on the squad.

Amorim said: “No regrets, not in this moment.

“If you had asked me four months ago, with all the problems, maybe I would have felt stronger about starting at the beginning of the season. But today I have a feeling that this is something that is going to help us in the future.
