Labour in vow to 'turn tide & restore pride'

- BY ALEXANDER BROWN

£150M CASH FOR HIGH ST

Help is on the way for streets with boarded-up shop fronts

HIGH streets with boarded-up shops and no sign of basics such as butchers, bakeries and grocers are to get a £150million boost.

The government announced the cash injection to help turn the tide on decline and restore local pride.

It forms part of the High Streets Strategy, announced earlier this week to tackle the long-term challenges that the retail, leisure and hospitality businesses have faced.

Communities Secretary Steve Reed told us the Tories failed high streets when they were in power for more than a decade.
