Mum holding a music festival to raise funds for son Jack's ongoing treatment

- BEN PERRIN News Reporter

A BIRMINGHAM mum was stunned to find her son had a brain tumour - which was only discovered after a serious car crash.

Debbie Bracher said surgeons tried to remove the mass from Jack's head, but complications meant some of it had to be left and alternative treatments should be considered.

She has now organised a music festival this summer, which will raise funds for the 28-year-old's ongoing treatment, as well as donations for the Brain Tumour Charity.

She told the Sunday Mercury: "I am a single mom who only became aware of how a brain tumour can affect someone, and everyone, who loves someone diagnosed with this terrible condition.

"My son was diagnosed in 2023 and had surgery, but unfortunately the sur geon was unable to remove all of the tumour from his pineal gland in the centre of his brain.

"Sadly, it is still there. This is how I found the Brain Tumour Charity. And as the NHS is under so much pressure, my son's MRI scan, which was due in November 2024, has still not been done - even with constant calls to the hospital asking when.

"So half the money raised will go towards my son's ongoing treatment and the other to the charity."

The festival, named "Jackfest 25", is due to go ahead at the British Oak pub in Stirchley on Saturday, June 21.

Debbie has now created a GoFundMe page, which aims to raise £1,000. She also explained the whirlwind range of emotions she went through around Jack.

"From the age of three it was just us. Jack is now 28 and has been my carer for all of those years," she said.
