PUB FORCED TO PAY FAMILY $75,000 OVER 'DINE & DASH' CLAIM

The Horse & Jockey in Tideswell, Derbyshire, was ordered to pay the sum to the McGirr family, after they were wrongly blasted for not paying their bill on the pub's Facebook page.

Peter and Ann McGirr, from County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, had been dining with their adult children, enjoying two £27 10oz ribeye steaks with sides and two £15.25 Derbyshire gammon steaks, alongside a choice of real ales and lagers, before paying their bill and leaving the establishment.

Not long after the Derbyshire pub posted snippets of CCTV which were used in reports as individuals referred to the family as “dine-and-dashers.”
