Ford stays top of car thieves' most wanted list for another year

THE latest police figures for the most stolen car brands in the West Midlands have been released with one brand retaining its unwanted top spot.

Fords are the most wanted by car thieves, according to figures released by the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner.

Some 2,948 Ford cars were stolen in 2024, slightly down on the 2,980 taken in 2023.

But three other brands have seen more than 50% jumps. Toyotas have seen the biggest jump with 75% more taken in 2024, some 1,021 stolen in 2024, compared to 585 the year before.

Jaguar cars have seen the second biggest jump - thefts up 70%, with 295 taken in 2024 compared to 174.

And Nissan thefts have risen 59% from 540 to 856.
