Movie favourites made eggstra special

- BY DAN VEVERS

SWEET-TOOTHED Scots will devour millions of chocolate Easter eggs this holiday weekend.

Across the UK, it's estimated we scoff a whopping 89-90million in total with each adult receiving three on average. The French, however, only eat one each - because one egg is un oeuf.

But in case you just can't get enough, eggs play a major part in many of our favourite movies.

Here are 10 crackers to enjoy over the holidays.

PUSS IN BOOTS (2011)

He's the Spanish cat from Shrek. And when he was given his own animated spin off, his adoptive brother and antagonist is Humpty Alexander Dumpty - a naughty egg with a big face. It's like a fever dream for kids who read too many fairytales. Cracking fact: The voice of Humpty, Zach Galifianakis, said: "I guess I sound like an egg, in real life."

ANGEL HEART (1987)

The Alan Parker horror has Mickey Rourke at his coolest as a deadbeat New York detective and Robert De Niro at his best as the Satanic Louis Cyphre. The best scene is when Cypher crushes a boiled egg and declares: "The egg is the symbol of the soul," before devouring it. Cracking fact: Rourke and De Niro disliked each other so much they never worked together again.

GHOSTBUSTERS (1984)
